INTRODUCTION:  BE SAFE, BE SANE, BE SMART:  BEST BRAIN STRATEGIES 

This first lecture discusses the fact that there is no PILL for your brain to cure Alzheimer's and dementia. This lecture deals with and explains the three PILLARS of health that are much more effective. These three critical strategies are revealed and defined for achieving and maintaining the brain health that is important during any situation.  Walk away with sound, practical changes that can easily be incorporated into daily life .

EXERCISING TO PRESERVE BRAIN HEALTH—EVEN FROM HOME!

The second lecture clarifies the direct relationship between exercise, increased brain capacity,

and prevention of future brain damage. How, when, and why you need to exercise is discussed, revealing the science behind “use it or lose it”. Exercises for various interest and ability levels are offered, with concrete  examples of working out “at home” with simple props, as well as the importance of brain drills alongside aerobic exercise.  Examples of  brain drill sites for downloadable applications are also shared.

The third lecture reveals the important connection between the gut and the brain, and how we can use food as medicine. Simple dietary changes can affect both emotions and appearance, while offering important brain protection. “Leaky gut syndrome” is explained, and specific food strategies are offered, uncovering the preferred diet prescribed for Alzheimer’s.

This fourth lecture will discuss the important link that deep relaxation and quality sleep have on attaining, maintaining, and recovering optimum brain health. Practical strategies for improving nightly sleep are discussed, including identifying personal sleep chronotypes . The stresses that events in your life may have brought forth are discussed and methods of overcoming them are shared including  a seven minute guided relaxation offered as a sample at the end of the lecture.

A very special presentation, offering caregivers  information and the opportunity to shed guilt. The distinction between different types of dementia is stressed, highlighting Alzheimer’s, along with the ten warning signs. Strategies are offered to demonstrate physical, emotional and verbal interaction, as well as identifying specific bathroom and “sundowners syndrome” techniques . Finally, some fascinating brain apps are identified alongside the importance of music, tv shows and movies, and valuable websites to visit . The lecture is meant to give the caregiver the means to feel good about their own behavior with their loved one as they practice patience and relaxation

 

    The ABC’s of CBD

Is CBD a myth or is it magic?  With all the controversy surrounding this all natural, ancient plant many are confused whether or not it really works: is it safe and is it legal?  This lecture presents the scientific information about CBD: the difference between CBD and the psychoactive ingredients in marijuana, the history of CBD in the United States, what is legal and where, and the possible conditions it can treat. Kathy will share her personal journey with CBD as she offers a simple and logical explanation behind all the hype. Could this be a partial solution to the opioid crisis?
